Across the country, communities in cities, towns and villages are gearing up to put on a show and celebrate in style, gathering together to honour the Queen’s remarkable, historic milestone of 70 years of service on the British throne.
Of course, the Yorkshire Dales would never miss out on a royal tea party… public events, street parties and community activities, all taking place from 2 to 5 June, including the traditional lighting of the beacons (dates of all the locations across the Yorkshire Dales National Park can be found here). Naturally, food will play a big role, and on this theme, I thought I would provide you with a large helping of tearooms in the Dales that put on a spread fit for a Queen!

The Dales has a huge selection of delectable ‘eateries’ and ‘watering holes’ offering locally sourced, freshly produced, delicious food, catering to a variety of tastes, and a warm welcome to go with it. Many of our cafés and tearooms also provide the opportunity to buy some of their delicious produce, either as a reminder of your visit or as gifts to take back home to share with others. Though more likely than not, a nibble here and a nibble there… it may not make it all the way home!
Food and drink galore
Take yourself on a virtual tearoom tour across the Dales as you view our online business listings, including a host of pubs and cafes as well as farm shops, delis and bakeries. Also featured are our local food producers, artisan makers and cookery workshops to get involved in!
Tearooms and cafes
Indulging in the fresh Dales air and breath-taking landscape, and with so many outdoor activities on offer, it is very easy to work up an appetite… but never fear, you will easily stumble upon a traditional tearoom or contemporary coffee shop to take a break and enjoy your surroundings – refuelled, replenished and ready to continue the rest of your sightseeing expedition, exploring the Dales.
Local food producers
Now that your mouth is watering and you have a taste for some of the finest produce our countryside has to offer, perhaps a jaunt to the Dales is what is required to fully embody the Dales experience…

Jubilee preparations
As everyone is rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in the preparations for the long weekend, I thought I would share a Yorkshire delicacy – Parkin, which you can add to your Jubilee spread to share with friends, family and neighbours. Guaranteed there will be a few classic sightings of Wensleydale cheese accompanied by a traditional fruit cake.
While we are on the topic of food and celebration, I will alert you to our upcoming Yorkshire Dales Cheese Festival, which is all about celebrating local produce! From 7 to 10 October 2022, look out for special Yorkshire menus, cookery demonstrations, ‘meet the maker’ events, guided walks around local farm producers or even bike rides or runs incorporating a cheesy theme.
In the meantime, watch the streets transform to a blaze of red, white and blue, hear the anthem playing proudly in the background, and give a toast to Her Majesty the Queen.
