The Old School Muker Art Gallery & Craft Centre

The Old School Muker is the largest art gallery & craft centre operating within the Yorkshire Dales National Park in North Yorkshire, showcasing a diverse and extensive range of work from over 50 independent artists and makers, all of whom share our passion for the iconic Dales landscape and wildlife that surrounds us in Upper Swaledale.

The gallery & craft centre is situated in the picturesque village of Muker in the heart of Upper Swaledale, arguably the most rugged and scenic part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Set over two floors, the art gallery showcases the work of many of the regions leading artists,  printmakers and sculptors, working in a diverse mix of styles and mediums, and who all share a passion for the iconic Yorkshire Dales scenery and wildlife that surrounds us. With an emphasis on hand made work by some of the region and UK’s best independent makers, the craft centre houses a unique collection that includes: ceramics, jewellery, felt-work, iron-work, glassware, natural skin care and homeware. Our private, walled garden, contains sculptural work and on a good day is the ideal place to unwind and soak up the views of Kisdon, Buttertubs and the surrounding fells, with a coffee or a cold drink. The gallery and craft centre are housed in Muker’s 19th century schoolhouse with a history dating back to the 1690s and is surrounded by the picturesque villages, rugged fells and magical waterfalls of Upper Swaledale, part of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, North Yorkshire.
