The Wensleydale Experience offers an immersive, integrated experience of Wensleydale life. Based in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, we provide guests with a unique place to stay in our luxury yurts or 18th-century temple folly, both with fantastic views. We run farm tours and experiences from our yurt site (also a working farm), and educate visitors in an authentic way about local agriculture. We work with several on-site partners to offer further services: Fairhurst's at Berry's farm shop and café provides homemade local food and gifts; and The Healing Collective provide in-yurt complementary therapies for a truly relaxing stay.
Yurts
With a sunrise and sunset view to die for - enjoyed from dining table or hot tub - The Wensleydale Experiences's luxurious Yurts are just a minutes stroll to Fairhurst's at Berry's Farm Shop and Café. Each Yurt has its own wood-fired hot tub, gas BBQ, dining table, loo and shower with bedding included.
There are five yurts to choose from, Larch, Elder, Rown, Hazel and Oak, all privately and quietly nestled within an wooded area just south of the farm and café. The Wensleydale Experience are also triving to be a super eco-friendly business, and features:
Farm Tours
The Wensleydale Experience also offer farm tours. It's a great chance for the family to meet all the farm animals, and find out how they look after and rear them.
Each farm tour is unique, and varies depending on what kind of seasonal things are happening on the farm. The sows often have litters of piglets who need to be fed; the rabbit loves to have his fur gently brushed; the Shetland pony, Rolo, enjoys getting provided with tasty hay. They also have cattle, chickens, llamas and pygmy goats, who often join in the tour!
Temple Folly
The Temple is an 18th Century Grade II listed folly in its own small copse on the north side of the Leyburn to Hawes road.
The accommodation is compact, comprising of two octagonal rooms connected by a stone staircase and outside balcony. A wood-fired couples hot tub provides the perfect place to relax and unwind, with a fire pit for an evening's stargazing.
The Temple enjoys magnificent views across Wensleydale to Bolton Castle (which is floodlit at night) to the north and the Lower Force at Aysgarth Falls to the west.
Easy to find, close to the main road, yet very secluded with high trees and wall. The nearest villages are Aysgarth which is just over a mile away and West Witton which is 2 miles away. Askrigg, Leyburn and Hawes are also within a short drive.
