Our Vision
The Yorkshire Dales Biodiversity Forum’s vision is ‘To promote biodiversity conservation in the Yorkshire Dales National Park and to encourage greater understanding and involvement of people in looking after their natural environment.’ More detail about how this could be achieved by 2040 is contained in the Yorkshire Dales Nature Recovery Plan, which the Biodiversity Forum has produced in partnership with the National Park Authority, the Yorkshire Dales Farming and Land Management Forum and the Dales Woodland Forum.
What we do
The Yorkshire Dales Biodiversity Forum brought together organisations who could develop the Nature Recovery Plan (NRP) for the Yorkshire Dales National Park, which was published in 2023. The combined expertise of the stakeholders on the Forum was crucial to the process of defining the habitats and species most in need of conservation action and determining objectives that need to be delivered to achieve nature recovery.
Collectively, we now face the challenge of delivering on the agreed objectives for nature recovery and so a Forum Delivery Group has been established, that has representatives from the organisations that are best placed to contribute to delivery of the objectives set out in National Park Management Plan and Nature Recovery Plan.

- Yorkshire Dales Farming and Land Management Forum
- Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust
- Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority
- Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (also representing the Yorkshire Peat Partnership)
The wider Yorkshire Dales Biodiversity Forum brings together both statutory and non-governmental organisations with nature conservation and biodiversity expertise in the Dales, who will continue to work alongside the Forum Delivery Group to help coordinate, deliver and report on actions for nature recovery. In addition, the membership will continue to provide expert advice, share best practice and support a unified and collaborative approach to achieving the nature recovery.
