Education – additional needs

Here at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, we provide education and learning resources for many groups and individuals, including education sessions, activities and resources for people with additional needs.

Everything we offer is designed to meet the needs, abilities and experience of the people we are working with and we are happy to adapt activities to suit the additional needs that groups or individuals have.

When we organise visits we talk to the group leader to make sure we understand who will be coming out and what will make the activities accessible, relevant and enjoyable for them.

These sessions can take place in locations throughout the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and if appropriate these sessions will be held outside in the beautiful landscape of the Yorkshire Dales.

We can for instance plan visits on barrier-free routes; our miles without stiles walks cater for wheelchair and pushchair users, and for people who can only walk short distances, we can find somewhere beautiful to sit and relax, to enjoy the scenery, and connect to nature at their own pace.

If your group is very new to the countryside we can help with relevant information about what they might need to bring, what the location we are visiting is like and who they will meet.

We understand that every visitor will have different needs and expectations. Our priority is to make our visitors feel safe and welcome so that they enjoy their visit and want to come back.
