Last year, we launched an urgent fundraising campaign – we need to raise £46,000 to repair a 200m section of severely eroded footpath on Yorkshire’s highest hillside.
We estimate that around 100,000 people enjoy walking in the Three Peaks area every year. Many are undertaking the 24 mile ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ – walking Ingleborough, Pen-y-ghent and Whernside in less than 12 hours – and raising an estimated £6 million for charity.

But this number of people inevitably takes its toll on the footpaths and surrounding landscape. And our rangers have an ongoing task to keep on top of maintenance and repairs.
So far, ‘Pitch in for Whernside’ – in partnership with the British Mountaineering Council – has managed to raise around £18,000 to repair the main descent from the summit. A fantastic effort!

How about a night for 2 people at luxury country house hotel, The Traddock, in the beautiful Dales village of Austwick?
But there is still a long way to go – and we need your help.
Now, we are launching a fabulous new crowdfunding campaign – and want everyone to get involved.
The campaign gives those who love Whernside – and value the opportunities that upland footpaths provide – a chance to get their hands on an incredible reward.

Maybe your own Yorkshire Three Peaks footpath sign?
The bigger the donation, the bigger the reward!
We have a fantastic selection of experiences, holidays, gear, clothing, and other 5-star goodies.

Or how about HF Holidays’ 3 night self-guided walking break for 2 people with full board at one of 18 UK locations to choose from?
We’ve worked hard to make sure we are offering you something really great in return for your valuable pledge.
Could you help us reach our target to stop erosion on this much loved route?
We think Whernside’s worth it – we hope you do, too!
