Dave Carlisle, assisted by Pete Roe, presents an illustrated talk giving a mining engineer’s view of winning and working lead ore in Swaledale and Arkengarthdale over 4 centuries.  Dave will focus on the evolution of underground mining equipment and techniques, improvements in ore treatment methods and the extraction and uses of other materials found in the area.
