Shap Granite and the Works Exhibition and talks

The exhibition, which is a joint venture between Shap Local History Society and the Old Courthouse Exhibit ‘A’ Gallery is an introduction to the large archive of photographs and information held by the Shap Local History Society. It highlights the world famous Shap granite which has put Shap firmly on the map. The text for the exhibition is taken from an article written by Jean Scott-Smith and geology information from Mike Rumsey.

As well as the exhibition Jean will be giving two talks – one on Shap granite and the related industry and another on the housing and people associated with the Works.  These will take place on Saturday evenings (see other entries for dates)
