Presenting the Past Exhibition and more…

Venue:
Grassington Town Hall, Main Street Grassington North Yorkshire BD23 5AA United Kingdom

This exhibition is built around over 400 photographs taken at the start of the 20th century and found in the storeroom of Kettlewell village shop.  They were commissioned by Percy Inman, probably with a view to using them for postcards to be sold in the shop.  However, very few were ever actually published.  They have been loaned to UWALS by Matthew Roberts, whose father ran the store.  The photos have inspired oral histories, artwork, songs, writings and photography as well as research work.  The fruits of this community project, long delayed by Covid, will be on view at Grassington Town Hall over two consecutive weekends and, thanks to a Heritage Lottery grant, it is all free.
