Planet and Constellation Trail
Thursday 13 February, 2025 - Saturday 1 March, 2025

The Yorkshire Dales National Park is a place where you can find the most wondrous star-filled skies, free from light pollution. Learn fun facts about the planets and star constellations in our solar system along the free, self-guided Trail. You will receive a little prize when you hand in your quiz at the Aysgarth Falls National Park Visitor Centre.
The Planet and Constellation Trail will be on display within Freeholders’ Wood, which is just a few metres away from Aysgarth Falls National Park Visitor Centre and the delicious Coppice Café. For Visitor Centre opening times see the Aysgarth National Park Visitor Centre page on our website.
The trail is approximately 1.5km to complete the full circuit, including the waterfalls. This Planet Trail will be on display (24hrs per day) in the woodland from 14th February to the 3rd March 2025, as part of the Yorkshire Dales Dark Skies Festival.
Explore the grounds as you follow the woodland path and search for the planets of our solar system. Spot the constellation rubbing plaques and use your brass rubbing crayon as you discover the 10 different constellations we have hidden for you to find.
This is a drop-in event. No booking is required. Please check National Park Visitor Centre opening hours before visiting.
This Trail is part of the Yorkshire Dales Dark Skies Festival running from 14th February to the 2nd March 2025.
