Mindful Stargazing with Mark Westmoquette

Venue:
Nethergill Farm, Oughtershaw, Buckden
Skipton, BD23 5JS
A clear starry night sky above Lady Hill in Wensleydale

Nethergill is a haven of peace and tranquillity and provides a great opportunity to get away from it all.

To celebrate the Yorkshire Dales National Park Dark Skies Festival 2022, we are hosting a Mindful Stargazing event with Mark Westmoquette.
As an astrophysicist and Zen teacher, Mark offers a unique method of mindfulness, based on science and research, which encourages you to find a deep connection with the cosmos. Like any activity done with mindfulness, stargazing can help you slow down, de-stress, connect with your surroundings, feel more aware and alive, and help you (re)discover a childlike curiosity about the world around us. And there is no surrounding more beautiful to connect with the cosmos than the remote beauty of Nethergill Farm.
6- 6.20 pm – Cosmic body scan meditation practise (indoors)
6.30 – 7:15 pm – intro to mindful stargazing (outdoors)
7:15 – 7:30pm – warm-up indoors
7.30 – 8:00 pm meditation on getting some perspective on space and time, melting into the universe meditation
8 – 8.30 pm – exploring the constellations and myths/stories about the stars
Tickets include:
2 hours of astronomy mindful stargazing and guided meditation at a dark sky business with no light pollution.
Wood-fired Pizza and Snacks.
Hot drinks.
Use of telescopes and binoculars.
There are only 20 spaces available. Book in 2021 and secure the early bird price of £20 £15!
Don’t worry if it turns cloudy, we have a beautiful, warm nature barn where we can project images. Also, this event is completely inclusive, you do not need any experience with mindfulness/meditation. Or indeed stargazing! Mindful stargazing is about the direct experience of being with the night sky without tech. Although we do have telescopes available for all budding astronomers.
