Join Dr David Johnson at the Museum for an illustrated talk and discussion, followed by a circular walk from Aysgarth NPC to Carperby.

The focus of the study day will be on landscape interpretation in the Yorkshire Dales: rural land uses today and throughout history, how geology and physical processes have affected how land has been used, and what techniques can be employed to make sense of landscapes.

The morning session will use maps, aerial photos and LiDAR images to examine various landscapes while the afternoon session will be a circular walk from Aysgarth Falls to Carperby looking in detail at this historic fieldscape.

Car parking tickets for both sites will be included.
