Times: 11am, 1pm, & 3pm each day

🏰 What is the Sallyport? The Sallyport is one of the castle’s most fascinating features. This hidden tunnel was large enough for small groups of armed men to slip out quietly at night to launch surprise attacks. Carved from solid rock in the 13th or 14th century, it runs down to the dry moat’s exit.

Arrive at the Knaresborough Castle Courthouse Museum. (Card payment only on the day)

Tour Duration: Approx. 30 minutes.
Accessibility: The Sallyport is accessed via stairs, with some slippery paths. Sturdy footwear advised. Low light levels. Suitable for ages 5+.
