Great Sleddale Hurricane Crash Site Walk

Find the isolated crash site of a WWII Hawker Hurricane in Great Sleddale.
On 12 Jun 1942 a Hawker Hurricane crashed in Great Sleddale while en-route from Henlow to Silloth. Its pilot, Alexander Ronald Leslie-Manville, was killed. Join us as we visit Great Sleddale, largely abandoned for over 50 years, and the inaccessible, hard to locate crash site. We will also visit a lead mine, copper mine
and field enclosures on a grand scale.
We need to ford the beck several times (there are no bridges) so please wear appropriate footwear. To reach the aircraft wreckage we will need to navigate off track to the open moor.
Please bring a packed lunch and drinking water. Dogs welcome on a lead.
Please note: this moderate/hard 9 mile walk starts and finishes at the turn-off to Ravenseat on the B6270, around 3 miles west of Keld. (what3words: // snoozing.embers.outs)
