Great Escapes – Film

Venue:
The Green Howards Museum, Richmond North Yorkshire DL10 4QN United Kingdom

Celebrating the museum’s 50th anniversary special exhibition AND the 60th birthday of a classic war film, we’re giving you the chance to enjoy a Curator-led exhibition private view, plus a screening of The Great Escape.

GREAT ESCAPES. YOU NEEDN’T MAKE IT UP.

Our special exhibition, Great Escapes, explores a rich history of daring feats, escape and evasion, the kindness of strangers, personal sacrifice, split-second decision making, fighting retreats and real-life survival by the skin of your teeth.

Our special exhibition, Great Escapes, explores a rich history of daring feats, escape and evasion, the kindness of strangers, personal sacrifice, split-second decision making, fighting retreats and surviving by the skin of your teeth.

You’ll hear how we put the exhibition together and some of the team’s favourite stories, uncovered during their research.

Then it’s off to The Station Cinema to watch Steve Mc Queen and his pals relying on Tom, Dick and Harry to spirit them out of captivity and onward to freedom in the classic 1963 film, The Great Escape. Our friends at the cinema have promised us the version of the film which includes an interval for ultimate authenticity.

Event starts at the museum: 5pm | Film screening at The Station Cinema: 6.30pm

Tickets: £13
