Drop-in observing session with Reeth Informal Astronomy Group

There will be an observing evening on Friday 20th February in the garden and meeting room of the Evangelical Congregational Church on Reeth Green. All welcome.
The Church has a nice dark garden and a warm meeting room.
If it’s clear we will have several telescopes set up for you to look though and, of course, we’d be happy to answer any questions you might have.
We will also have some of the pictures we have taken on display and if it is cloudy, an introduction to the affordable robotic telescopes which are revolutionising our hobby.
The event is free – though we will have a bucket for donations which will be shared between Swaledale Mountain Rescue and the Church, who are letting us use their premises.
Reeth Informal Astronomy Group are a small and friendly group our members are mostly based in the Northern Yorkshire Dales, in particular Arkengarthdale, Swaledale & Wensleydale, but also Shetland, and we welcome people from further afield.
The group covers every level from absolute beginners with no equipment whatsoever to those with a modest amount of experience of using small to medium sized telescopes. Our common aim is to learn together, and everyone is welcome.
We have a regular meeting usually on the second Thursday of the month to discuss current astronomy news, exchange ideas and expertise and to observe the night sky when it’s clear
