Clapham art group has been running for over 74 years and once again we will be holding our annual exhibition in May 2026.

Taking part in a weekly art group offers much more than a creative outlet — it’s a chance to nurture your mental, emotional, and social wellbeing. Making art helps quiet the mind, ease stress, and promote relaxation through gentle focus and self-expression. Working alongside others fosters connection and belonging, easing isolation and building supportive friendships. Whether you’re painting, drawing, or simply sharing ideas, the process brings mindfulness, confidence, and joy. Over time, these small moments of creativity build resilience, brighten mood, and add a renewed sense of purpose each week.

Of course, it’s lovely to be pleased with the finished piece, but it is the act of creating itself where the wellbeing benefits truly shine.

And it isn’t only the artists who benefit. Our annual exhibition also supports mental wellbeing for those who come to see the work. Simply spending time looking at art — slowing down, absorbing colour, texture, imagination, and emotion — offers its own kind of calm and uplift. Visitors often tell us they leave feeling inspired, soothed, or energised, and we love that our creativity can have that positive effect.

Our exhibition is both a celebration of our long tradition and an invitation for the wider community to share in the joy, reflection, and wellbeing that art brings.
