BROADRAKE – Ash Splint Baskets with Steve Tomlin

A rare opportunity to learn this traditional craft from the US with tutor Steve Tomlin over 2 days. Pounding an ash log de-laminates the wood into layers which are then trimmed and prepared into splints for weaving. Please note that you will be working with splints that Steve has already harvested and you won’t be expected to spend hours hitting a log!

The resulting woven basket is incredibly light yet very strong. This workshop is suitable for total beginners.

All refreshments, lunches and materials are included.

Overnight accommodation is available in the bunkbarn with sole occupancy of a bedroom.
