A UWALS Writing Workshop with Ian Clayton – Author and Broadcaster – no experience needed just an opportunity to be grabbed!
Venue:Threshfield Village Institute, Threshfield
Threshfield, BD23 5HD
This is a rare opportunity for participants to benefit from the wide experience of an established writer without leaving the Dales!
Ian aims for participants to produce new writing on the day. He will facilitate this by a series of writing exercises that are designed as food for thought. The day will be informative, entertaining and good fun. Ian welcomes fiction and non-fiction responses – as he will explore on the day, he does not differentiate. It will also be a chance to pick Ian’s brains about the writing process.
Ian Clayton was born in Featherstone, Yorkshire and is an English writer and broadcaster. In a freelance career spanning 20 years he has edited and authored more than fifty books and broadcast on TV and radio. Some years ago now, Ian entertained us speaking about his life and we were requested to invite him back to share his writing expertise.
In recent years he has been visiting scholar in creative writing at Changchun University in China. He believes that good stories start anywhere and at any time and that the best stories have a strong sense of place, that they live and breathe in the community, just like their tellers and writers. His own stories are about making sense of where we are from and how this then compares to where someone else is from. Ian’s writing workshops thrive on turning the spoken word into a piece of written work. The workshop welcomes experienced writers and new writers alike.
The price is £25 for adults and £20 for concessions. The price includes lunch and refreshments.
