Natural England owns and manages this special area of limestone woodland, which is part of the Ingleborough National Nature Reserve (NNR). The main trees are ash, and they scramble over the rocky limestone terrain. Underneath the trees, a delightful range of woodland flowers can be seen.
This site requires a permit to visit. These are available free of charge by contacting the NNR Team at Colt Park Barn. Email Andrew Hinds, Andrew.Hinde@naturalengland.org.uk, to obtain a permit.
NNR staff are usually on the site each weekday between 9 am and 5 pm, and sometimes at weekends and Bank Holidays.
