Landscape Sensitivity Assessments

To inform the Local Plan’s consideration of housing site allocations, a number of landscape sensitivity assessments were commissioned. The Landscape Sensitivity Assessments are an important part of assessing which sites are suitable for housing development. They were used to help inform the Housing Land Availability Assessment and Sustainability Appraisal (SA).

In 2022 a series of Landscape Sensitivity Assessments (LSA) were produced to help inform the first sift of potential housing sites. This informed the shortlist of 33 possible site allocations included in Consultation No.6.

As a result of comments received during the consultation process, together with the submission of some new site candidates, it was necessary to review the landscape sensitivity of a number of sites. This included more detailed analysis of selected sites, which resulted in some changes to the judgements on landscape sensitivity and/or the parts of site that were suitable for development in landscape terms. The results of the landscape review process are set out in the reports below.
