Local Government Transparency Code

Our responsibilities under the Local Government Transparency Code 2015 require us to publish details of our spend, procurement, personnel, assets and constitution.  

The Code is issued to meet the Government’s desire to place more power into citizens’ hands, to increase democratic accountability and make it easier for local people to contribute to the local decision making process and help shape public services.    If you cannot find the information you require from this page or from the links to the right hand side, please do not hesitate to contact us on Accesstoinfo@yorkshiredales.org.uk.

The Code does not replace or supersede the existing legal framework for access to and re-use of public sector information provided by the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (as amended by the Protection of Freedoms Act 2012), the Environmental Information Regulations 2004, the Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2005 and Infrastructure for Spatial Information in the European Community Regulations 2009.  

Data can be viewed and used under the Open Government Licence published by the National Archives. This page will only show data for three years – but if you wish to have information from previous years please get in touch and ask.

Our open data 

Spending data (published monthly)

  • Includes items of expenditure over £500
  • Includes grants paid
  • Includes government procurement card transactions
  • Includes invoice and grant payments to individuals but personal data is replaced with the words ‘Redacted personal data
  • Excludes all payments to individuals paid through payroll
  • Excludes payments to HM Revenue and Customs relating to VAT and payroll
  • Excludes all pension related payments.
  • The data published relates to payments made by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority
  • The Authority uses an accounting system called Access
  • The date used to identify payments is the date that the transaction was paid
  • You are only able to re-use this data using the Government’s public sector open data licence
  • During 2025/26 we paid 99% of undisputed invoices within 30 days; no late payment fees were paid during the year

Human Resources data (published annually)

  • Organisational chart for staff earning over £50,000 per annum each year
  • Senior salaries updated each year
  • [as of February 2026 we are no longer required to publish trade union facility time]

Procurement data (published quarterly)

  • Invitations to quote or tender for contracts exceeding £5,000
  • Contracts, commissioned activity, purchase order, framework agreement and other legally enforceable agreements valued in excess of £5,000

  • Local Authority freehold assets and leasehold assets (Annually)
  • Parking revenues and controlled parking spaces (Annually)
  • Constitution (Annually)

Additionally, under the Openness of Local Government Bodies Regulations 2014 we are now required to publish a written record of decisions that have been delegated to officers that:

  • grant permission or a licence;
  • affect the rights of an individual; or  
  • incur expenditure that materially affects our financial position.
