Be a Nature Discoverer

Come and experience the Yorkshire Dales by becoming a Nature Discoverer!

Generation Green is a new project in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Through creating meaningful outdoor experiences, volunteering roles and residentials, the project aims to connect young people to nature – many for the first time – and to cultivate a sense of care for the natural environment.

We are offering FREE Nature Discoverer day sessions (10am – 2pm) for children aged 7-14.

The day will include:

  • Outdoor survival skills
  • Connecting with nature (discovering habitats)
  • Discovery walk
  • Navigation skills

Sessions will involve a variety of practical activities, a walk, sensory games and a chance to learn more about the environment.  There will be a focus on enhancing pupils well-being through connecting with nature. The sessions will be led by our Education team and Dales Volunteers, but adults from the provider will also need to accompany the children.

The sessions can be at any of the following locations:

  • Aysgarth Falls and Freeholders’ Wood, Aysgarth
  • Grass Woods and the River Wharfe, Grassington
  • Nethergill Farm, Oughtershaw, near Hawes
  • Malham

The visiting group would need to arrange transport to and from the location and packed lunches. A contribution towards transport costs is available for day visits.

Dates available:

Weekdays and weekends beginning week commencing 14 June 2021, until February half term.

There are FREE residential stays available for groups at our YHAs across the National Park. Please get in touch for more information.

Risk assessments will be provided by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority. All staff and volunteers have enhanced DBS status and First Aid qualifications.
