Become a ‘Dark Sky Friendly’ tourism business

In a light polluted country, the quality of our dark skies is becoming increasingly important and is creating a growing market for tourism businesses.

The Yorkshire Dales National Park was designated an International Dark Sky Reserve in November 2020 and is a fantastic place to enjoy the night sky – whether you’re attending an organised event or simply relaxing in a holiday cottage, campsite or B&B with a deckchair, a warm blanket and some binoculars.

If you are a tourism business, looking to make the most of our dark skies, you can sign up to our ‘Dark Sky Friendly Business’ scheme. It’s open to business which can offer facilities, services and information to visitors specifically wanting to enjoy our dark skies.

It’s free to register and take part. Once accepted, you’ll get the Dark Sky Friendly logo to use on your website/ social media and be promoted via a link on our website

You can find out more about the scheme criteria here.
