The John Muir Trust and the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority are offering free places on a training day in Ingleton for teachers and group leaders interested in the John Muir Award.
The Award is a national environmental scheme designed to connect people with wild places.
The training day will focus on the upland commons of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and will be held on Thursday 4th July at Ingleborough Community Centre from 10am to 4pm.
It is being funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund, as part of the development phase of Our Common Cause, a project which in the Yorkshire Dales will be based on three commons at Grassington, Ingleborough and Sedbergh.
Events and Education Manager at the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority, Catherine Kemp, said: “It will be an enjoyable day aimed at teachers at key stage two and over as well as group leaders. We will explore how to use the John Muir Award alongside the curriculum and will discover more about the community and heritage of the area. During the day we will meet practicing Commoners, land managers and local conservation workers.”
