Starting and finishing in Horton in Ribblesdale, this is a mystery walk!  We’re deliberately not publishing a route so that we can choose something appropriate to the weather and ground conditions on the day.  Individuals can book to join a small group of no more than six people in total, plus your friendly, professional guide.

If weather and ground conditions permit, we hope to be able to walk up the hill called Pen-y-Ghent which is one of the famous ‘Yorkshire 3 Peaks’, and then possibly on to Plover Hill. In good visibility, the views from the summit are stunning! In poorer weather or ground conditions we have a couple of lower level walks to choose from. Whichever route we choose, the countryside around Horton-in-Ribblesdale is lovely!

You should be prepared to walk up to a maximum of 15km or 9 1/2 miles with up to 560m of ascent/descent, although it might be less than that. The ground could be wet and boggy in places (unless it’s frozen) and stony in other places. If we do the ascent of Pen-y-Ghent, there is s steep rocky section that involves some easy scrambling up the rocks.

Proper hiking boots and warm outdoor clothing including a waterproof jacket and trousers are essential.  Young people under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Sorry no dogs.

Advance booking and payment via the web link is required please.
