Tutor Steve Tomlin will guide you safely, step-by-step, through the skills of this lovely way to create unique utensils and spoons from a fresh cut log. The 2 day course is perfect for beginners, with safe axe work cuts taught to split and roughly shape the wood before moving onto the knife work. Steve will teach the different knife cuts required to work efficiently and will demonstrate the way to work with the grain.
On the first day you will master a kitchen utensil with a shallow bowl and stirring tip to get to the corners of the pan.
On the second day the axe work skills and knife cuts taught on the first day will be reinforced with butter spreaders before moving onto an eating spoon with a deeper bowl.
Spoon carving is becoming a very popular, absorbing and tactile craft.
This is a 2-day workshop to allow the skills to be fully embedded, allowing you to continue at home with your own tools.
All greenwood materials and tools are provided, and all refreshments and lunches are included in the price.
