A public consultation on the final proposed changes to the Yorkshire Dales Local Plan 2025–40 is now open. This six‑week consultation focuses solely on the ‘main modifications’ and associated ‘policies map changes’ that have been proposed by the Planning Inspector following the examination hearings held in December 2025.
The main modifications are some changes to the text of the policies themselves and the policy justification, glossary and appendices. A small number of the main modifications require changes to be made to the policies maps that accompany the Local Plan. Only representations that relate to a proposed main modification or policies map change will be considered by the Inspector.
The consultation does not reopen or revisit any other parts of the Local Plan.
A full set of consultation documents, including the main modifications schedule, policies map changes, and tracked‑change versions of the Plan, is now available online and at National Park offices. Members of the public, stakeholders and interested organisations are invited to comment by 12 May 2026.
