Nature Recovery Plan

The Nature Recovery Plan (NRP) for the Yorkshire Dales National Park sets out the Biodiversity Forum‘s aspirations for action between now and 2040, aiming to conserve and enhance the biodiversity within the National Park.

The draft NRP below is as approved by the Biodiversity Forum during the last meeting of the Forum on 11 September 2023, and includes the amendments suggested during this meeting.

The NRP replaces the Local Biodiversity Action Plan (LBAP) (‘Nature in the Dales: 2020 Vision‘) that guided the conservation work of the Biodiversity Forum and the National Park Authority between 2010 and 2020.

LBAP Trends and Status Review

The 2020 Local Biodiversity Action Plan Trends and Status Review is the third and final comprehensive review of progress undertaken under the ‘Nature in the Dales: 2020 Vision’. The first review was published in 2014 and the second in 2017, this new review builds on this work, covering the period 2017-2020. It was published in 2022.

It includes the results of an extensive programme of survey and monitoring work, undertaken by many different organisations and individuals since 2010.  This report details the number of actions and targets due to be implemented between 2017 and 2020, summarising the key achievements in delivering the over-arching actions, and determines whether the two primary 2020 objectives have been reached.
