Yorkshire Dales Tourism

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority currently influences tourism in the National Park by working in partnership with the authorities involved in Yorkshire Dales Tourism - the Tourism Partnership (TP) for the Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate:

We have found that this is the best way for the Authority to encourage the ‘bigger players’ to think about conservation when promoting tourism. By working in partnership we have a stronger voice with which to influence the regional and national tourism agenda and we can raise the profile of conservation in this special area.

The Authority has worked in partnership with other local authorities and the Regional Tourist Board since the early 1990s and this has been widely recognised as an example of good practice in partnership working.

Following a fundamental review during 2005, the TP entered a new phase in 2006, working with more private sector representatives within a new structure. The TP has an Executive Board, which comprises private and public sector representatives, and an operational working group that will be directed to carry out the actions identified by the Board. The Executive Board is made up of representatives from different parts of the tourism industry chosen for their wide range of skills and experience.

For more information on the work of the TP please visit the Tourism Partnership website (opens in new window).
