Access Ranger - Cumbria South

  • £16,123 to £18,070 per annum (with possible progression to £21,269)

  • 37 hours per week

  • Orton, Cumbria

The Yorkshire Dales National Park boasts some of the most stunning scenery in Britain and will provide an enviable setting for your career in countryside management.  

This is an exciting opportunity working in the southern Cumbrian Dales and concerned with the maintenance of the public rights of way network, other access routes and open access areas and estate management for the Authority. The successful candidate will liaise with landowners and farmers and carry out high quality practical work enhancing public access and engaging with users and communities.  

You will be an integral part of the ranger service, undertaking practical work alone or as part of a team, managing and supervising contractors and volunteers, and co-ordinating and delivering practical work, as required.

As well as having experience in the planning and maintenance of projects such as building stiles, fencing and walling, it will be necessary to have experience of health, safety, and welfare (including risk assessment) in relation to practical projects.  To help maintain our records and deal with email correspondence you will be computer literate with good communication skills.  Experience of supervision would be an advantage.
