Volunteers working on a bridleway

Many different people want to help conserve and enhance the Yorkshire Dales National Park and to help others understand and enjoy its special qualities.

Each year the National Park Authority provides all sorts of opportunities for people to do this through our Dales Volunteers (DV) network and a more limited variety of other opportunities.

These volunteers make a vital contribution to the work of the Authority, across almost all of our services and activities, giving over 6,000 volunteer days in 2007/08.

These pages describe the various ways in which you can become actively involved in that work. Note that we also offer a very limited number of work experience placements.
