Visit the Dales

The picturesque village of Orton is a popular spot with a pub, café, village shop and Kennedy’s Chocolate Factory. The village has the distinctive white towered All Saints Church, and bridges cross the two becks which enclose a central green surrounded by picturesque cottages. On the second Saturday of every month over 35 local producers, growers and artisans come together for the Farmers Market in the village with high quality produce available.

This is a great base from which to explore the area which offers superb walking and cycling. The Coast to Coast walk passes through the village on its way from the Lakes to the Moors, as does a number of cycle routes including the Walney to Wear and the Lakes and Dales Loop.

A network of paths leads from the village into the surrounding countryside and there are popular walks on to Great Asby Scar - a large expanse of limestone pavement with superb views.
