Upland Wet Acidic Grassland

The wet acidic grasslands, dominated by the presence of heath rush provide an important habitat for breeding birds, in particular waders, such as, curlew, lapwing and snipe. Heath rush itself is of special interest internationally as it is almost entirely confined to western Europe with Britain providing an important stronghold for this species. Wet acidic grassland is of high biodiversity value.
