Projects - past and present

Creating the Pennine Bridleway is a massive project. Its high quality design and planning mean that it will provide facilities both for experienced and less experienced users, who will be able to choose distances to suit their abilities. The Trail will have no stiles or steps – just easy to use gates and special road-crossing points. It will be clearly signed and waymarked with directional signs bearing the name of the Trail together with the National Trail acorn symbol.

View of Arten Gill viaduct with restoration work underway on the trackWork started on the Yorkshire Dales National Park section of the route in 2004. A number of major projects have already been completed along the route as follows:

Arten Gill
Lady Anne Highway
Ling Ghyll Bridge
Gorbeck Road

From time to time sections of the proposed Pennine Bridleway have to be closed to allow improvement works to take place. For more information click here.
