Organising large-scale events
Large-scale and organised challenge events have become increasingly popular throughout the Yorkshire Dales National Park in recent years with many people taking part to raise funds for charity or as a personal challenge.
When large groups organise events in protected areas of the countryside they can can have an adverse impact on the landscape and environment and can cause disturbance to local communities. Those organising such events need to make sure that every effort is made to minimise this damage and to make sure that they do not cause inconvenience to others. Organisers need to assess the likely impact of the event and ask themselves if it is appropriate, in the right place and at the right time of year.
Organisers of any outdoor challenge events should contact the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority at the earliest opportunity for advice and specialist local knowledge, which will help them to plan the event.
