26 to 30 May: Wildflowers for Beginners

Malham Tarn is a fascinating area with a wide variety of different habitats giving a wonderful diversity of wildflowers. This short course will be an opportunity to look at this diversity with experienced botanist and ecologist Judith Allinson.  Organised by FSC Malham Tarn.

18 May: Richmondshire Museum Garden - 11.00am-1.00pm

Visit the museum courtyard gardens and hay meadow for a child. Sally Reckert will be there to chat to visitors about creating their own hay meadow area at home. Part of Richmond Open Gardens. Organised by Sally Reckert under the Dales, Plants & Gardens project (recording people's memories of domestic gardens and their plants for planting up museum gardens: Richmondshire Museum, Richmond and The Dales Countryside Museum, Hawes, and the St John's Day Centre, Catterick Garrison).

18 May: Mill Field Hay Meadow walk. Temple Grounds, Richmond - 2.00pm

Guided walk by Sally Reckert through Mill Field, a traditional hay meadow (classified MG3 Grassland) owned by Dr and Mrs Lawson, Temple Lodge, Richmond. Meet at Yorke Square car-park, Richmond. 22 May: Spring Flowers at Lords Wood and Pasture - 6.30pm

Enjoy the delights of the local spring flora with some expert guides on a walk up Stackhouse Lane to this Site of Special Scientific Interest.  Meet at Settle Swimming Pool. Organised by Craven Conservation Group.

24 May: Hay Time Lantern Making - 2.00pm-5.00pm

Come and find out more about hay meadows with story teller 'Creeping Toad' and make your own lantern ready for the dusk procession this evening. Meet at Malham National Park Centre. Booking essential. Organised by YDNPA.

24 May: Hay Time Lantern Procession - 8.30pm

Come along on a dusk walk lit by lanterns and discover the insects and bats attracted to the area before joining in a story telling session by lantern light. Meet at Malham National Park Centre. Organised by YDNPA.

25 May: Meadow Grasses Identification Course - 11.00am-4.00pm

A beginners' guide to the identification of meadow grasses led by local botanist Dr Judith Allinson.  Meet at Lower Winskill Farm, grid ref: SD826664.  Directions to the farm: Follow the road out of Langcliffe towards Malham.  After about a mile turn left onto a narrow road opposite a lay-by.  The farm is down a driveway on the left at the end of that road. Organised by Plantlife.

28 May: 'Discover & Do' - 2.00pm-4.00pm

Children's hay time craft activity afternoon. Only suitable for children over the age of 8. Dales Countryside Museum. Organised by YDNPA.

29 May: Bringing in the Drinkings - 10.00am-4.00pm

Taste some examples of traditional food that would have been brought out at harvest time in days gone by. Find out more about a traditional harvest in the Dales. See us at Muker Show field. Organised by YDNPA

30 May: Storytelling - 2.00pm-3.00pm

Drop in storytelling for all the family on a Hay Time theme. Dales Countryside Museum. Organised by YDNPA.
