Green tourism, responsible tourism, sustainable tourism - whichever of these terms you want to use, it is tourism which takes into account the needs of the environment, local residents, businesses and visitors; now and in the future.

In these pages you can find details of the free-to-join Dales Tourism Business Network, some case studies of local businesses with inspiring ideas, the Distinctly Dales project which could help you market your business, and the range of support offered by the National Park Authority for tourism businesses.

There was a chance to meet other busineses and take part in behind the scenes tours of the Bolton Abbey estate and the hotel, with some opting to experience a mini tour on an electric bike with Otley-based E-Bike Hire.  We are very pleased that so many businesses took time to join us at this event and the feedback has been extremely positive.

Presentations were given by the following people - click on a name to download their presentation:

Louise Stewart (VisitEngland)

David Shields (Welcome to Yorkshire)

Richard Hammond (Green Traveller)

Susan Briggs (The Tourism Network)

Chris Wildman (Paganum Foods and Airton farm Shop)

We hope this will become an annual event and the next step will be to collate the suggestions from businesses and to build on our next workshops and events around them.
