Reaction to Tour de Yorkshire full route announcement

Bainbridge, 5 December 2017

Reacting to this morning's unveiling of the full route for the 2018 Tour de Yorkshire, keen cyclist and YDNPA Member Champion for Recreation Management, Nick Cotton, said:  "I am really looking forward to seeing the Tour de Yorkshire come back to the National Park and taking on some challenging climbs. During Stage Four the cyclists will be coming into the National Park in Embsay and climbing over Embsay Moor - a King of the Mountains climb - with great views out over the surrounding area. Then they will travel up Wharfedale to Kettlewell with a sprint at Kilnsey. Beyond Kettlewell is another King of the Mountains - Park Rash – parts of which are as steep as anything I’ve ever ridden in Britain, before a narrow technical run down Coverdale.

"We will be working with local communities to ensure that disruption is minimised and that this fantastic event can be celebrated and enjoyed. We will also be working with Welcome to Yorkshire and the District Councils to bring roadshow events to Kettlewell and Coverdale so that local people can get more information and find out how to be involved."
