New Western Dales volunteers get to work

Bainbridge, 14 March, 2017

Four new volunteers, inspired by the extension of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, started work on Saturday, helping to plant 250 trees in Dandra Garth in Garsdale.

Since the Park’s boundaries were extended to include more of Cumbria last August, 16 people have come forward to offer their skills and time to the Ranger service operating in the Western Dales Area of the Park.

Pictured here at the planting on Saturday 11 March 2017 are, from left to right:

Landowners Darren and Frances Lumber, Jack Banks (Dales Apprentice), Ian Robinson (Dales Volunteer), David Wright (Dales Volunteer), Patrick Stapleton (new Volunteer), Jill Robinson (Dales Volunteer), Paul Wilkinson (Area Ranger – Western Dales), Shelley Bainbridge (new Volunteer), Daniel Atkinson (Trees and Woodlands Officer).

The two other new volunteers, Ian Huitson and Geoff Lambert, were still digging and are not in the shot!
