Approval for EE phone mast in Craven

Bainbridge, 12 December, 2017

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority has granted full planning permission for the installation of an 11 metre high telecommunications pole and associated equipment on Fleets Laithe, north of Hetton, in Rylstone parish.

Full details of the planning application (C/60/75A) can be found here.

Robert Heseltine, the Authority’s Member Champion for Development Management , said:  “Our local plan is clear in its support for telecommunications apparatus.  Such infrastructure is key for businesses, for tourism and for residents – as well as, in some cases, for emergency services.

“The visual impacts of new infrastructure have to be balanced against the benefit the infrastructure brings to the local community, businesses and visitors to the area.”

“Improving broadband and mobile telecommunications services is an important objective in the National Park Management Plan. Such services are now an integral part of modern lifestyles and business operations, and an essential pre-requisite for attracting the sort of business we need to grow the economy of the National Park. They are also vital in remote rural areas to provide on-line access to services that are otherwise physically located many miles away. When considering technology for rural areas we in the Yorkshire Dales should not be seen as the forgotten country cousins.”
