Natural England have launched a new grant scheme called the Farming Ammonia Reduction Grant scheme. This is for Beef and or Dairy farmers throughout the UK. The aim of the scheme is to reduce ammonia emissions from farms by funding covers for existing slurry stores as long as they meet the legal requirements for storing slurry.
The applicant needs to download an application form from here and submit the completed form by the 31st January 2017. Natural England will then check through applications and pass the contact details on to a contractor who will then visit the farm to check the eligibility and discuss ammonia reduction on the farm. The farmer will receive a report after this visit.
If your existing slurry storage facilities are suitable, the grant will be offered. The applicant then needs to arrange for the cover to be fitted and claim for the work by the 31st August 2017. The claims will then be paid by the 30th September 2017.
If the scheme is over-subscribed, grants will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
If you are interested in this grant and would like further advice or help, please do not hesitate to contact the Farm Team.
