Progress update:

In 2010, the National Park Authority's visitor newspaper ('The Visitor') contained features on ‘green’ tourism businesses, and encouraging visitors to select those that promote and sell local produce. This was supported with a 'buy local' message in the 'Welcome to the Yorkshire Dales National Park' leaflet. 'The Visitor' also continues to support local businesses by advertising and featuring events such as farmers markets.

The Yorkshire Dales Accommodation Guide, produced in conjunction with Craven District Council contains a ‘try local, buy local’ message encouraging patronage of 'green' tourism businesses.

The ‘buy local’ thread runs through the visitor section on the Authority's website.
