By 2011 undertake five promotional campaigns aimed at specific recreational activities to raise awareness of the National Park Authority’s recreation charter and codes of conduct.

Progress update:

Since 2007, the National Park Authority and its partners have undertaken 5 promotional campaigns:

  • Trail riding in the Yorkshire Dales - a leaflet aimed at motorcycle riders wishing to use the ‘green lanes’ in the area.
  • A Green Climbing Guide produced with the British Mountaineering Council.
  • A programme to inform mountain bikers about how to use trails in a responsible way, and in particular how to approach horse riders.
  • A programme to inform dog owners about a range of relevant issues.
  • 'Go Walking' - a campaign to give information to less experienced walkers on how to act responsibly in the countryside.
