The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority organises a range of guided walks as part of its annual events programme. Many of them have either a nature conservation or cultural heritage theme. Guided walks are a great way to learn about the area and let someone else worry about the navigation. Many of them are free of charge and most are accessible by public transport.
You can also search other events in the National park by visiting the Welcome to Yorkshire website events listings.
Walks organised by the Authority cost £2 per adult but they are free for children and public transport users (please produce valid ticket).
The National Park is also home to two other organisations that run programmes of guided walks aimed particularly at public transport users: the Friends of Settle-Carlisle Line and the Dalesbus Ramblers.
Friends of Settle-Carlisle Line
The Friends of Settle-Carlisle Line organise a a comprehensive programme of guided walks on Saturdays, Sundays and occasional Wednesdays throughout the year. For full details of the walks, visit the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line website.
Dalesbus Ramblers
Dalesbus Ramblers is a walking group organised by the Yorkshire Dales Public Transport Users Group and affiliated to the Ramblers Association, providing guided walks in the Yorkshire Dales area. Walks take place on most Sundays and Bank Holidays throughout the year. All walks are accessible by the popular "Dalesbus" bus services. Find out more on the Dalesbus Ramblers website.
A couple of companies also offer baggage carriage services for people doing long distance walks across the Yorkshire Dales. To find out more about letting someone else take your load contact one our National Park Centres for further information.
