Making a compliment or complaint

The Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority is committed to providing a high standard of service to the public. We value your opinion and feedback on how we measure up to these standards. Positive comments and experiences help us recognise, record and learn good practice lessons. Sometimes we make mistakes, and sometimes we might not do something for you as well as we should. It is important that you let us know and give us the chance to put things right – and to learn from our mistakes.

We are always pleased to hear when we have done something particularly well, and the green 'Comments' forms at all National Park Centres are an easy way to record and submit your views. Alternatively, please contact us by emailing the Complaints Officer or phone 01969 652326. Your comments will be passed on to the appropriate officer.

The Authority has an effective procedure for recording and dealing with your complaints. We have produced a brief, user-friendly guide, How do I Complain?, on how to make a complaint and this can be downloaded by clicking on the link below:

Full details of our policy can be found in the document Compliments, Complaints and Comments – A Guide to the Authority’s Procedures which can be downloaded by clicking on the link below.

Alternatively, please email the Complaints Officer or phone 01969 652326.

The Authority also has a Confidential Reporting Policy which allows employees, Authority Members, and third parties such as contractors or potential contractors to raise concerns about fraud, discrimination, or misuse of Authority property. This is sometimes known as whistleblowing. If you would like to know more, please contact the Secretariat team).

Complaints about Authority Members

The Authority has adopted a Code of Conduct which applies to Members of the Authority. If you believe that one of the Members of the Authority has failed to follow the Code of Conduct you can make a complaint to that effect.

Your complaint should be made to our Standards Committee - this is chaired by an Independent Member and is responsible for upholding high standards of conduct for Authority Members. Any complaints received are initially considered initially by a panel of Members drawn from this committee, but it may be that the complaint is referred on to the national body, Standards for England, for further consideration.

Further details of how to make a complaint are available in our explanatory leaflet, 'Complaints about Authority Members'. Alternatively, if you require any other assistance, please email the Complaints Officer or phone 01969 652326.

The outcomes of complaints made about Authority Members in the past can be downloaded using the links below:
