Progress update:
The area was awarded the EUROPARC Charter for Sustainable Tourism in 2008, which reinforces the image of the Yorkshire Dales as an area for sustainability, inclusion, outdoor recreation and enjoyment. The National Park Authority and Nidderdale AONB have worked with the Yorkshire Dales and Harrogate Tourism Partnership and Welcome to Yorkshire to provide workshops and training for local businesses. These highlight the special values of the national protected areas, and influence tourism businesses to think about sustainability, inclusion and conservation in their work, and to participate in an accredited green quality scheme.
