Progress update:
Since 2000 the National Park Authority has been surveying and mapping important habitats across the Park (see objective NC7). This Park-wide habitat map will be used during 2008 to identify key areas that could provide connections between existing habitat fragments. Initial work has already been done, focusing on the distribution of ancient semi-natural woodlands. From this, a ‘Forest Habitat Network’ has been developed which identifies priority areas for managing and planting woodlands.
