Use of local building materials is encouraged by the Local Plan through policies such as B7 Building Design, which identifies the use of locally obtained natural building materials as one of the defining characteristics. The Authority's Design Guide also encourages use of local building materials to conserve the character of settlements. Information on sourcing scheduled for 2009.
