Progress update:
Almost 1,900 new monument records were created and added to the Historic Environment Record in 2007. Much of the information is already available through Out of Oblivion (website opens in new window) and the Archaeology Data Service (ADS): a new transfer of data to the ADS is planned for 2008.
Local universities and other publicly funded bodies producing relevant research have been reminded of this objective through the Yorkshire Dales Historic Environment Group. Project reports acquired since 2000 have been given to the Historic Buildings Sites and Monuments Record (HBSMR) source numbers to improve access and retrieval.
